As someone who loves to travel and explore new destinations, I had high hopes for my recent stay at Vythiri Village resort. However, I regret to say that my experience fell far short of expectations. From the moment I arrived until the time I departed, there were numerous issues that left me thoroughly disappointed. First and foremost, the cleanliness of the resort was subpar. Lift was stinking so bad at Room 8320. It was evident that the housekeeping staff had not paid attention to detail, which made me question the overall hygiene standards of the resort. In Room Dining was a joke, the prices are so expensive. They don’t respond to the calls, it literally took me an hour to get connected to restaurant to make an order, when they know that footfall is going to increase on weekends, they should have sufficient staffing to handle and not give lame response that they are busy. What is the point of 5 Star if they cannot meet guests requirement. Furthermore, the amenities promised on the website were either outdated or non-functional. The pool near room 8320 was not functional. To add insult to injury, the food at the resort was mediocre at best. The buffet offerings were bland and uninspired, and the à la carte menu was overpriced for the quality of food served. It was clear that the resort was cutting corners to maximize profits, without regard for the satisfaction of its guests.

Saw this hotel on tripadvisor and selected it.. big mistake... what they show on the web and the reality is much different... we arrived at 3.30pm at the lobby.. the lobby is very spacious and well built... the check in was smooth... however we had to walk about 100 m to another old dilapidated building where our rooms were alloted... it is a poorly designed building which looked more like an apartment building on stilts... the room was also very badly designed... there is no proper place to keep the luggage... the cupboard was next to the writing table .. when we open the cupboard we can't use the writing table.. the most unsafe part is the bathroom.. it is about 4inches below the room and if we are not careful we can trip ... there is no place to keep the soap while having a bath... the whole building needs maintenance... I tried the spa... it was a bad experience. The treatment rooms also were poorly designed... it looked like an ordinary room badly maintained... the treatment was so bad I left after 5 min... only saving grace is the staff are very friendly and the food is ok...

One of the best properties in Wayanad, offers spacious rooms, courteous staff, restaurant and food varieties with local cuisine, and sightseeing. It was really hot during Apr this year, If the climate is an issue then you may want to look for some other options in the uphill. The food taste was just ok, they use tamarind and red chilli a lot , and even after I categorically told them not to use these ingredients , they continued to serve food prepared with red chilli. Overall I really liked the resort , one small request - I have see they have put two puppies in a cage - I have no idea why had to punish those puppies , I would request hotel authority to seriously to look into this/

Evergreen Hills and Winding Roads

Ninan J on Apr 14, 2024

We embarked on a journey to Vythiri Village Resort, a property of Club Mahindra, generously sponsored by a friend who is a club member. Our route from Aluva took us through scenic, winding roads, passing through bustling towns like Thrissur, Perintalmanna, and Manjeri. Google served as our trusty guide, leading us along the shortest and least congested path. Despite being labeled as a State Highway, the roads felt more like narrow country lanes. Our quest for a decent breakfast spot along the way proved challenging, with the towns just beginning to stir even at 9:00 AM. Finally, in Peritalmanna at 9:30 AM, we stumbled upon a vegetarian (Udupi) restaurant, our only option at the time. Although the food was standard fare, it failed to match the quality we've experienced at other Udupi restaurants. As we journeyed onwards, we were struck by the scarcity of roadside eateries typical of highways. We navigated our way through Mukkom and the 'Thazhvaram' before ascending through the Thamaressery Churam, where the scenery was awe-inspiring but the roads too narrow for overtaking slow-moving traffic. Upon reaching the plateau in Wayanad where Vythiri is nestled, we were greeted by the impressive, wooded expanse of the resort. While the reception and accommodations provided by Club Mahindra were satisfactory, other facilities within the Vythiri Village Resort seemed neglected and unoccupied. Our first meal at the resort's restaurant left much to be desired, with overpriced dishes that failed to impress. Undeterred, we explored the resort's 47-acre campus, indulging in activities like a short zipline ride and taking a dip in one of the two swimming pools. The following day, we embarked on an early morning ride through the forest to the Kerala border and beyond to Gundalpet. Although we didn't encounter any elephants or bisons, sightings of deer and a peacock added to the charm of the journey. Breakfast at a restaurant near the border was underwhelming, prompting us to forgo a second helping. Our return journey, marred by increasing traffic, felt long and tiresome. Disappointed by the lack of dining options in Vythiri, we decided to check out early the next day, opting for a longer route via Mepaddy, Gudalur, and Ooty. The scenic climb to Ooty was marred by potholed roads, but we found respite in a satisfying breakfast at Paradise vegetarian restaurant. The search for decent eateries continued in Ooty, highlighting the scarcity of dining options along hillside roads. Our drive through Coonoor was hindered by bad roads, with smooth sailing only after reaching Mettupalayam. Finally, after a long journey, we arrived back at our starting point in Aluva at 5:00 PM. Throughout our trip, the lack of quality restrooms and dining options, especially along hillside routes, was a recurring challenge. While the journey offered glimpses of breathtaking scenery, the overall experience left us unenthused about returning to these locales.
